Styled by the Parks: A Design Journey Through America’s Landscapes | Week 4: Denali National Park

Overview

Designing with Denali in mind means embracing contrast—soft and severe, grounded and futuristic. Through bold form, icy tone, and sudden heat, we craft an interior that honors not just Denali’s appearance, but its atmosphere—clear, daring, unforgettable.‍

The tallest mountain in North America rises through clouds while snowfields and glaciers stretch in every direction. This week’s moodboard reimagines Denali through a modern, eccentric lens—using high-contrast hues, slick finishes, and sculptural forms to reflect a place that is as surreal as it is sublime.

Denali Mountain Flight

A Sculpted Palette of Ice, Sky, and Flame

Denali’s beauty lies in its tension: the soft hush of snowfall against the jolt of red snow suits, dog sleds, or planes that sometimes dot the tundra. Our palette captures this duality—pairing icy blue tiles like Nais' La Riviera Lavanda Blue and Tilebar’s Montauk Gin with deep reds and chromes, reminiscent of the iconic red planes that soar around Denali'speaks. Pops of rust and cobalt from Palet’s gradient art panels nod to the geological heat buried beneath the permafrost. Meanwhile, the Chrome Panton Chair and reflective surfaces create a liquid shimmer—like melting snow under low sunlight.

Boldly Inspired

Even in a high-impact palette, we ground the design in thoughtful choices. Cortina Leather’s “Bremen Garnet” adds rich color and durability, while Cle Tile’s Zellige in Platinum introduces handmade texture and reflectivity, echoing the facets of fresh ice. The flooring and wall treatments draw from Nasco’s Moxy tile collection in Lavanda, Cobalto, and Grigio—each appear like snow shadows or arctic twilight. This is design that doesn’t just mimic a landscape—it challenges it.

Wildlife, Weather, and Ecological Drama

From caribou to gray wolves, from avalanche tracks to wind-sculpted ridgelines—Denali is constantly in motion. This project captures that dynamism through movement in form and finish: the curve of a modular MDF Italia sofa, the ripple of Tilebar’s Norway Blue Celeste mosaic, and the slush-like shine of Marazzi’s Marbleplay collection.

Color here is used with intention: white for snowfields, silver for light and water, and crimson for survival—an ode to both nature’s beauty and its extremes.

Conclusion: Clarity at the Edge of Wild

Designing with Denali in mind means embracing contrast—soft and severe, grounded and futuristic. Through bold form, icy tone, and sudden heat, we craft an interior that honors not just Denali’s appearance, but its atmosphere—clear, daring, unforgettable.

Stay tuned next week to find out which park we'll be traveling to!
