There are many different styles and can be hard to pick from. Most of the time people don’t know how to style it in their space. History Of Canopy Beds

Canopy Beds have been around since the 13th Century around the Middle Ages. It has always been known throughout history as a luxury piece for a high class bed. Canopy beds were used if there were shared rooms. Drapes were put over them for privacy. Also if it was cold heavier fabrics were used to keep warm at night. Since then they have remained timeless.

Different Kinds

Most of the time canopy beds are the focal point of a room. Canopy beds are different from a four post bed. The railing on the top is what makes it a canopy bed. There are a couple different types of them. The first is a more modern take like the picture above. Mainly made out of metal. It brings in a little bit of drama without going overboard. There is a criss cross canopy where it crosses when it gets to the top. Lastly, there are wood canopy beds allowing for more carving detail.

How To Incorporate In Your Room

As it was mentioned before, canopy beds can be the focal point of a room. It can be hard to figure out how to style it. Typically most canopy’s are 7’ tall, standard ceilings are 9’ tall. There are a couple options to make it flow in your space. First, you can add drapery like in the picture above. Second, a big art piece on the wall in the center would complement it well. Finally, a white false ceiling is good for highlighting the canopy.
